5 Essential Summer Makeup Tips!

5 Essential Summer Makeup Tips!

By now we’ve probably all learned some basic make-up dos and don’ts. But did you know that as the seasons change, so do the rules? That’s right – this summer, follow these simple 6 rules to make sure you’re ...looking your absolute best throughout the warm and sunny season!

1. Don’t use heavy foundation and creams. It will look patchy once you sweat. Apply matte powder over foundation with SPF.

2. Protect your lips from harmful sun rays. Lip gloss is the best option for summer. You can apply lip gloss or lip balm with SPF 15 to keep your lips looking fresh and pert. Pink is a shade that looks more natural in lipsticks in summer. A creamy lipstick will be friendlier on the lips than matte lipsticks and will also last longer.

3. Eye make-up is an error-prone zone in summer and you can avoid gaffes by sticking to neutral tones and waterproof mascara and liners. Make sure you carry eye-make-up remover with you so that you avoid dark circle which can be a natural consequence of waterproof eye make-up. Smudged eyeliner can look great on summer evenings. Apply mascara last and allow foundation to fully set before applying.

4. Leave your foundation or tinted moisturizer in the refrigerator. When you smooth it on, the heat from your face will melt it into your skin making it look like natural skin.

5. Apply bright and dark shades of nail polish on your feet in the summer, especially if you plan on walking barefoot or in open sandals. Apply moisturizer before going to sleep. Lighter shades of nail polish will do well for hands. It will save you from redoing your nails every now and then as the chips will not be as obvious.

As with any season, always remember to layer your makeup. For your face, apply a primer, followed by foundation, and if it’s a liquid/cream, set it with powder. For your lips, use a lip liner and then apply lipstick with a brush.
